Cacoxenite from Leveäniemi Iron Mine, Svappavaara, Norrbotten County, Lappland, Sweden.
Chemical formula: AlFe3+24 (OH)l2O6(PO4)17(H2O)24
Cacoxenite is a fairly rare phosphate mineral in many mines around the world. The reason is that the mineral turns into limonite in weathering conditions and is difficult to protect and clean.
In this mine we found slightly decent specimens and they are easy to recognize.
Common associations are Strengite, Beraunite and Fluellite.
One can find Beraunite party changed to yellow Cacoxenite
The specimens in this presentation is primary Cacoxenite with a few exceptions.All prices are in Swedish currency or US$.
